Jonny Bunn
Aloha United is very pleased to announce the hiring of its’ new Director of Coaching, Jonny Bunn. This is a very exciting hiring for Aloha United as Jonny brings a level of experience to our club that is of the highest caliber. As we head into tryouts and the upcoming year Jonny is very excited to meet everyone and to get started. Please join me in welcoming Jonny to Aloha United. Below is a brief bio for Jonny.
After completing a degree in Sports Science and Biology in the UK at the University of Essex, Jonny was recruited by UK International Soccer Camps to coach on week long soccer camps during the summer of 2005. After a successful and enjoyable summer, Jonny was rewarded with a full time position as Technical Development staff, aiming to help provide coaching services to Recreational and Classic clubs. In 2006 Jonny was transferred to Oregon, where he has been coaching for Southside Soccer Club for the last four seasons. During this time Jonny has achieved his USSF National B license, his Y license (Youth), and has coached for Tigard High School for the last three years. Jonny continued his work for UK International soccer camps where he gained the role of Assistant Regional Director. Recently Jonny’s success has been validated by the appointment to the ODP coaching staff where he is coaching the 97 Boys.
Jonny is currently the Director of Coaching and the U12 Boys Head Coach.
Aaron Peck
Aaron is the newest member to our Aloha United Coaching Staff and will be coaching the U11 Girls B team Head Coach. Aaron has played soccer his entire life, including three years at Portland State University and five years in Oregon’s best premier adult leagues. While playing in the OPSL and GPSD leagues, Aaron’s teams were league champions four out of five years. Aaron brings with him a wealth of playing experience and technical expertise.
Brian Bauman
Brian is the U12 Girls Head Coach and the Girls U10 Select Team coach. With a USSF National Coaching “D” License and six years of coaching experience, his U-11 girl's team won the 2009 President's Cup. As a U-10 girl's team coach, he took first place in the 2008 Summit Mortgage Challenge and third in both the Beaverton Cup and Chinook Cup Gold Division. In 2008, Brian was a finalist for the Responsible Sports Coach of the Year award.
Charles Adelmann
Charles is the Head Coach for the U10 Select Boys Team. A former premier and ODP level player himself, Charles is the assistant boys varsity soccer coach at Lincoln High School in Portland, Oregon (state semi-finalists from 2000-2002). He was the Head Coach of the U12 Girls Team and the Asst Coach of the U13 Boys team last year. He continues to remain active as an adult player and AU coach.
Dave Coursen
Dave is an Aloha Development Coach who was the U12 Girls Assistant Coach last season. Dave has been a valuable coach with AYSC for over 6 years, coaching U6 thru U11 age groups.

James Fondren
James is the Club Director and the Head U11 Boys coach at Aloha United. He has been with Aloha United since 2008. James’ loyalty and dedication to Aloha United has been a major factor in the growth and success of club last year. James grew up playing soccer and tennis. In tennis his brother and he won the 1988 3A State Doubles Championship in Texas, his team was third in state at Lake Oswego High School, and he went on to be part of the 1st team in Pacific University history to win a conference championship. In soccer James played club and High School soccer in Texas and was part of the men’s club team at Texas A&M University. James has been involved in youth soccer since receiving his National Youth License in 1992. He received is USSF ‘D’ license in 1993 and has been fortunate enough to be on the coaching staff of a U12 Texas boy’s team and a U12 Oregon girl’s team during their respective state championship runs. James moved to Oregon permanently in 1994 and has been involved in Oregon club soccer ever since, coaching boys and girls in a variety of age groups and coached at Pacific University for two years. His real passion is developing young players.
Louis Hema
We would like to thank Louis for his very dedicated commitment to Aloha Youth Soccer and Aloha United. Louis has stepped down as an Aloha United coach to spend time with family this 2010 season. Louis was involved with Aloha United since 2005. His soccer coaching experience dates back to 1990, with U-10 tournament championships in the Salem Waterfront Tournament (1999) and the Eugene Shamrock Shootout (2000). Louis holds his National “E” level coaching license.
Sorin Popovici
Sorin is Aloha United's Head Goalkeeper Coach. As a goalkeeper in Romania, his playing experience included time in both the Romanian first and second divisions, including FC Poli Timisoara, FC UMT Timisiara, and AS Politehnica Timisoara. Sorin was also the goalkeeper coach at Mark Morris High School in Longview, Washington (2006-2007) and is currently the ODP goalkeeper coach.
Steve Nielsen
Steve is an Aloha Development Program Coach. Steve’s longtime involvement with soccer as a player includes U-15 and U-17 national championships with Southside United Soccer Club in Canada, selections to the All-Star Alberta U-17 and U-18 soccer teams, an NCAA Division II Defensive Player of the Year selection (1979) with Chapman College, and Division One men’s soccer with Stoy United SC. As a coach, his Elk Grove, CA U-14 boys team were league champions. Steve also coached locally with Westside Metro Soccer Club for ten years and with Southside as a club coach in 2004 before joining Aloha United in 2008. He has a USSF National Coaching “C” License and received a FIFA Referee license in 1975.
Stuart Hoiem
Stuart began coaching for Aloha United in 1999 and is the head coach for the U-14 boy's team. He is currently the Hillsboro High School boy's junior varsity coach and the varsity assistant coach. Prior to that, Stuart coached at Glencoe High School and La Salle High School. Stuart currently holds the National "D" license for coaching.
Tyler Shook
Tyler is the Director of Training and the under 11 Girls Head Coach for Aloha United, Tyler brings a wealth of experience and organizational knowledge to Aloha United. His previous role as a Youth Programming Director for YMCS Storer Camps (2007-2008) gives him a strong focus in team building instruction and character development. District Player of the Year and First Team All-State high school honors in Ohio as well as three years as a varsity starter for Ashland University, Ohio translated to coaching experience at several levels, including Maumee Youth Soccer Association Summer Camps (1995-2001), Maumee Express Club Coach (2004), a varsity assistant coach position at Anthony Wayne High School in Ohio (2006), and most recently, the Perrysburg Soccer Club Coach, also in Ohio. Tyler holds an NCSSA National Diploma.
